Jamie Carragher has revealed that he thinks David De Gea is a better goalkeeper than Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois at the moment.
De Gea, 24, has arguably been Man United’s best player of the season so far, with the Spain international continuously producing fine saves to protect his side.
Against Liverpool, De Gea was simply unstoppable as the goalkeeper produced stunning save after stunning save to keep another Old Trafford clean sheet.
Furthermore, with Man United’s defence looking shaky and with a number of changes being made to the back-four every game, many have hailed De Gea for his consistency, despite the uncertainty that’s in front of him.
However, Carragher was quick to hail De Gea, arguing he is just a little better than Courtois at the moment.
Carragher wrote in his Daily Mail column: “There has been a lot of debate about where De Gea stands at the moment in terms of the goalkeepers we have in this country, but there is no doubt in my mind he is now the No 1, having just edged past Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.”
Man United’s next game sees them face goal-shy Aston Villa, De Gea will be hoping to keep his second clean sheet on the bounce.
