Daley Blind has been back in full training

Daley Blind could return to the Manchester United line-up against Southampton this week after spending almost two weeks training with the first team.

Van Gaal confirmed the Dutch midfielder was coming back for United and it looks like it could be this weekend if he has managed to overcome his knee troubles.

Blind has been missing from the first team squad since November after picking up a bad knee injury whilst on international duty with the Netherlands national team.

After a promising start to life at United, Blind's injury was cruel but allowed both Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick to show their top form.

With Ander Herrera impressing against Yeovil and Wayne Rooney settling into his midfield role well, Blind adds further competition but may not walk into the team as he did on his arrival.

Blind returned to training over the Christmas period and his return continues to put an end to the injury crisis that has taken over Old Trafford this season.

His return could be quickened by injury to Luke Shaw with Blind capable of playing at left wing back but there's every chance the former Southampton man will be fit to face his old club on Sunday.
