LUCAS SILVA NEXT IN LINE FOR OLD TRAFFORD MOVE

Manchester United are set to follow up their imminent capture of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid with exciting young Brazilian Lucas Silva, report the Express, as Louis van Gaal reshapes his squad at Old Trafford.

Silva has been one of the most thrilling breakthrough performances of the Brasileiro recently, having been a key part of the Cruzeiro side that have raced to the top of the table.

The 21 year-old is an impressive all-round midfielder who could be seen as a long term partner for new signing Ander Herrera at Old Trafford, after the Spaniard became Louis van Gaal's first signing as United chief this summer.

One of the significant attractions of Lucas Silva to United may well be the fact that Cruzeiro are reportedly willing to part with one of their prized assets for a fee of as little as £8 million, something that has also attracted the attention of La Liga champions Atletico Madrid and Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Silva himself has stoked speculation linking with a move to Europe:

"I have the dream of playing in Europe, but I don't want to leave Cruzeiro the wrong way."

Despite his fine performances on the domestic Brazilian scene, Silva has just four appearances for Brazil's Under 20 side - and is yet to force his way into Dunga's reckoning for the senior squad, something that may only come with a move to a more high-profile league.
