MANCHESTER CITY ‘WILL TRY HIJACK’S DI MARIA £64 TRANSFER FROM REVELES MAN UNT.

Manchester City are attempting to hijack the signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid despite reports claiming that the winger is set to move to rivals Manchester United.

It is believed that the Argentina international’s agent will fly to England to thrash out a £64million deal with The Red Devils in the coming days.

However, The Times have now claimed that United’s neighbours, City, have asked Di Maria to delay finalising a move to Old Trafford as the Premier League champions assess their ability to launch a big-money bid for the 26-year-old.

It is thought that City are concerned about the Financial Fair Play implications of such a move after Real reportedly offered the player to the club for £60m and £8m in add-ons last week.

City will try and raise about £50m to sign Di Maria by selling players – with Alvaro Negredo set to leave the Etihad stadium to make way for the Los Blancos winger.

United, though, remain favourites to land the player this summer although the English giants have been told to pay about £63.9m – which would be a domestic record fee – to close the deal.

Which club would Di Maria suit better?
