Ander Herrera: I wish one day I can be like Paul Scholes

Herrera celebrates

Andre harrera has set his sights on emulating Paul Scholes as a Manchester United midfielder.
The Spaniard has started off the Premier League in confident form and scored his first goal for United against QPR last weekend, a trait which Scholes made traditional over his long career at Old Trafford.
Like Scholes, Herrera has a fantastic range of passing and speaking to MUTV, he admitted that following in the footsteps of Scholes was a long term aim for him.
“Yes it’s not one of my best qualities,” Herrera responded when asked about goalscoring. “But I think it is very important for midfielders because the best ones in the world like Paul Scholes scored hundreds of goals and I wish one day I can be like Scholes.
“Scholes always worked hard, helped his team-mates, always made a lot of chances for the forwards, not only for him but his team-mates. It’s difficult I know but I want to be similar to him.”
In his short career as a United player, Herrera has presented himself very well both on and off the pitch, and it is something that makes it very easy for fans to warm to him as they have done.
A player like Scholes is irreplaceable but somebody like Herrera can certainly go some way to bringing that ingenuity back into United’s midfield that has been missing since Scholes’ retirement.
