Manchester United’s Michael Carrick set be named in Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils squad for the first time

CM: Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick is set to be in the Man United squad for their clash against West Brom, the midfielder is likely to be on the bench, according to the Mirror.

The Red Devils travel to The Hawthorns at the start of next week as they restart their season after the international break and Van Gaal will have more options in central midfield, with Carrick and Herrera close to returns.

It was reported on Tuesday that Carrick would play in an behind closed doors frinedly for Man United, but the Mirror report the midfielder came through the friendly.

Former England man Carrick can offer Van Gaal some stability in the middle, as he continues to reinstate the club as a Premier League power, having slowly got them back into the top four.

Herrera, who has had an impressive start to life in Manchester, could also feature as his broken rib is not as serious as first thought.

The injury is causing the Spaniard no significant pain, meaning he could be back in the team for the clash at The Hawthorns, having suffered the injury in United’s 2-1 home win over West Ham at the end of September.
