Roma president annoyed at Strootman rumours but admits money talks

Roma president James Pallotta is getting annoyed at constant reports linking Kevin Strootman with an exit from the Italian side.
Strootman has been heavily linked with Manchester United since Louis van Gaal became manager and reports of a potential move have continued to gather pace despite Roma's insistence he is not for sale.
However, Pallotta made it clear he knew football was a business at its core and admitted that the club would be obliged to listen if a big money bid were to come in for Strootman.

“I do get annoyed," he told Bleacher Report.

"I think the papers have finally given up on the Strootman thing, because Kevin's come out and addressed it, saying he likes it in Italy and he has a five-year contract. And by the way, I wasn't going to sell him anyway!
"The Liverpool thing with Pjanic is the same. We have another four years with him, and we love him.
“We want to put the best team on the pitch, that's the most important thing. But we're businessmen. If someone comes in with a stupid number for a player, you have to listen to it. You can't just say no, no matter what.
"My view is that I don't want Kevin to go, for example, but if someone offers a huge amount, you at least have to listen to them. You're running a team, so you have to look at what's best for everyone, not just one individual. That's the way the world works."



Football is a language that everybody speaks but so is money, especially in modern day football. Players going for astronomical fees used to be an individual event but every summer players now change clubs are huge amounts of money.
Roma have no desire to sell Strootman and that position won't change but neither will the fact they're a business. With United's financial muscle, the right price would acquire Strootman if Van Gaal wanted him.
