Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has saluted Paris Saint-Germain for their performance this evening, after the French side put Chelsea out of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.
PSG suffered an early blow in what was a bad-tempered game when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off in the 31st minute for a rash challenge on Chelsea midfielder Oscar.
The French champions had ten men, but stood firm and Chelsea could not find the back of the net in the first half. Indeed, PSG even grew into the game, with Marco Verratti taking control in midfield.
The Blues did make the breakthrough in the second half though, with Gary Cahill converting from close range in the 81st minute.
PSG however bit back, with David Luiz heading home with power in the 86th minute to take the tie into extra time.
An Eden Hazard penalty put Chelsea back in control in the 96th minute, but PSG continued to fight and Thiago Silva looped a header over Thibaut Courtois to make it 2-2 on the night and 3-3 on aggregate.
Chelsea had no answer and crashed out of the Champions League on away goals.
For Rooney, PSG had produced a masterclass on how to play with ten men and he lauded their performance at Stamford Bridge.
Rooney wrote on Twitter: "That is one of the best performances I've ever seen with 10 men from PSG."
