Bayern among the big winners in Europe
Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk enjoyed high-scoring wins in the Champions League against hapless victims Roma, Maribor and BATE Borisov.

Bayern had a 7-1 romp in Rome with Arjen Robben banging in a brace in a sensational first half that also saw goals from Mario Goetze, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller.

The German side were up 5-0 after just 36 minutes.

Gervinho pulled a consolation goal back for poor Roma, only for Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri to complete the rout for the Bavarians.

The memorable win made it three out of three for Bayerm, who top Group A with the maximum nine points, five more than Roma.

Earlier on Tuesday, in the group's other game CSKA Moscow came from two goals down to force a late 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City.

The game was played behind closed doors because of crowd trouble at previous CSKA matches.

Sergio Aguero gave City the lead in the 29th minute by finishing a clever move between David Silva and Edin Dzeko.

James Milner made it 2-0 nine minutes later by turning in a miscued shot from Aguero.

CSKA stormed back in the second half despite the absence of fans to cheer them on.

In the 64th minute Seydou Doumbia pulled a goal back for the hosts by turning in a centre from Ahmed Musa, then Bebras Natcho made it 2-2 four minutes from time with a calm penalty, after City's Aleksandar Kolarov pulled down the impressive Doumbia.

The draw left City third in the group with two points from three games and CSKA bottom with just one point.

In Group H, Shakhtar emulated Bayern with an astonishing 7-0 win at Borisov, with Brazilian striker Luiz Adriano banging in five of his team's goals.

Shakhtar are second in the group, two points behind leaders Porto, who beat bottom team Athletic Bilbao 2-1 on goals from Hector Herrera and Ricardo Quaresma.

Chelsea stormed to the top of Group G on seven points with a 6-0 destruction of Maribor.

Eden Hazard banged in a brace for the Blues. The other scorers were Loic Remy, John Terry, Didier Drogba and Maribor's Mitja Viler, with a clumsy own goal.

The London club are two points above Schalke 04, who scored a late 4-3 home win over bottom team Athletic Bilbao.
