Fabian Delph: Set for surgery on injured shoulder
Aston Villa and England midfielder Fabian Delph is to undergo surgery after dislocating his right shoulder in training.
The 24-year-old is expected to be ruled out for two months after falling awkwardly during a training session on Tuesday and is not likely to be back in action until the Christmas period.
Delph has enjoyed an impressive rise to the international stage after cementing a place in the heart of the Villa midfield and started for England in the 1-0 victory over Estonia in Tallinn on Sunday.
He will now miss England's European Qualifier against Slovenia next month and the friendly against Scotland which follows that match.
Villa manager Paul Lambert revealed details of Delph's injury on Thursday, but did not know at the time whether or not he would require surgery.
Lambert said: "It was an awkward fall. No-one was near him. He fell on his shoulder. It is not always straightforward so we need to go and get it checked out."
